About Me
Hello! My name is Melanie McCaffrey and I am a freelance graphic designer and photographer. Horses have always been a huge part of my life, as I grew up in San Diego competing on the A show circuit and spent every waking moment of my childhood in the barn. I graduated from the University of Findlay in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design and English Equestrian Studies with a minor in Photography, and I use the combination of all three areas of study to create art. I am inspired by the connection that I, as well as others, can form with these animals. My goal is to tell stories through equine art.
I started exploring photography when I was thirteen years old, and haven't looked back since! Most recently, I have been enjoying photographing people and their horses, capturing candid moments and letting the personality of both horse and rider shine through the photograph. I also love traveling and enjoy photographing everywhere I go, trying to create an image with a different perspective.
Since my college days I've worked as a rider/groom, a horse trainer, and am currently a traveling horse show photographer pursuing my business full time. While horses and art make up most of my life, I am also a huge fan of fitness. After work you can find me in the gym, running outside training for half marathons and mud runs, or training at my ninja obstacle gym. I am also a huge adrenaline junky, so I never turn down an adventure. I enjoy traveling, wine, the beach, roller coasters, anything outdoors, concerts (specifically Adam Lambert, Queen, and The Killers), and F.R.I.E.N.D.S. One thing that is consistent in everything I do, is that I give 110%. My passion is evident in all areas of my life.
